Alyssa Nihart, Marketing Management student, has been playing volleyball since her mother began coaching her in the fourth grade. In 2011 she played for the Division III University of Minnesota-Morris Cougars. Nihart learned about tryouts on the MATC Stormers website and is now a co-captain on the team. She plays as a setter as well as an outside hitter. “I am a very competitive person,” Nihart stated, “and have a passion for the game of volleyball.”
When asked who inspires her, she spoke of her Uncle Mike. “He had an accident over 10 years ago and was paralyzed from the waist down,” Nihart revealed. “He is my inspiration because he has never let his disability get in the way of him living his life. Even being in a wheelchair, he is on the city council in my hometown, helps coach the baseball team, and is the biggest supporter in not only my life but many others’ as well. He is the most positive person I know. I strive to be like him.”
In her spare free time, Nihart likes to travel.
She said she is committed to traveling while she is young and looks forward to experiencing as many new things and places as possible.
