Have you heard of Fun? Then you’ll love Bleachers!

The lead singer of the band Bleachers, Jack Antonoff, is also a member of the band Fun. Antonoff began writing songs on his own while touring with Fun and released his first single, “I Wanna Get Better,” this year. He performed his new single to a sold-out crowd at Turner Hall on Nov. 14. It was the Bleachers’ first headlining show in Milwaukee to sell out. Antonoff said, “I can’t . . .  wait to be back in Milwaukee.”
Although he is the group’s main singer, four other artists including two drummers, a saxophone player, and another guitarist/ keyboardist/ vocalist joined him on stage. One drummer, Jon Shiffman, played with Antonoff in the band Steel Train, which stopped performing in 2013.
The band sang not only their own work, but also covers like Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way” and “Bullet” from Steel Train. The crowd was into the indie pop/alternative rock band. You could feel the whole floor moving as the fans danced to the music. As the band wound down their performance, the crowd shouted for one more song. The band obliged. Antonoff said he’s played in Milwaukee twice this year and next year he wants to come back again and again. I think Milwaukee agrees since the fans nearly dragged him off the stage at the end in hopes he would crowd surf.
