On the Milwaukee lakefront you can find many boat cruises to attend but nothing says fun like hanging out with your fellow students!

On Friday, Sept. 23, students, faculty and staff enjoyed a boat cruise on the infamous Voyageur. Student Government organized the event and hosted two boat cruises that docked at Michigan Street at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Catering by Saz’s that included savory ribs, briskets, pasta salad and bread rolls added a touch of class to the event. Karaoke and a DJ were set up on the upper deck for everyone’s entertainment.

Both staff and students had a blast and took turns on the microphone for karaoke. The view of Milwaukee’s skyline was breathtaking. Setting out from the Milwaukee River onto Lake Michigan added excitement as the Voyageur cruised on the waves past McKinley Marina and many other lakefront spots. The dark but clear night sky allowed a wonderful view of stars and city lights to be viewed.

Many staff and Student Government representatives were on board. Reggie Adams of the Television and Video Production program was present on both cruises. Adams learned about the cruise because he voted on it and had been on previous years’ cruises; he enjoyed the event so much that he voted to bring it back again for students to enjoy this fall. Adams said he would definitely attend future cruises even if he weren’t on Senate in future semesters. The reason Adams likes it so much is because he can meet new people or hang out with old friends. He says he enjoys watching people have fun! Adams shared that he’s into good music and would love to see a variety of DJs in the future cruises and might even DJ on future cruises himself. He is very involved in the college’s events and would love to see more activities similar to the cruise in the future.

Having a run on the Voyageur was fun, exciting and boasted a great Milwaukee view. Thanks to Student Life and the Senate, students are able to enjoy off-campus events and relieve some stress!
