Friendly faces welcome students and their families to the first-ever Family Fun Day at the zoo.

MATC hosted Family Fun Day at the Milwaukee County Zoo on Sunday, April 9. The event turned out to be a big hit for students and their families. Caricature artists, games, face painting and a magician made for an exciting day filled with fun and laughter. This was the first time MATC held this event at the zoo.

According to Erika Crosby, Student Life coordinator at the Downtown Milwaukee campus, “We were looking to do something a little different that was still family oriented.” Crosby stated that the event did really well. “We actually sold out all of the tickets.”

All of the volunteers were members of MATC’s Student Government. Sara Paschke, vice president of Oak Creek Student Government, enjoyed her time volunteering at the zoo by running some of the games. She worked alongside Kamylle Moore-Brown from the West Allis Student Government and Romwai Swain from the Mequon Student Government.

Donations of non-perishables were made in return for food and drink vouchers. According to Patrice Jefferies, Student Life coordinator, “All of the donations will be given to the MATC Student Food Bank, which is then given to MATC students in need.”

The event was a big hit for the families who attended. Jennifer Harris, a student in the Aesthetician program, thinks MATC did a great job with the day. “It’s awesome that MATC does things like this for their students. Great food and fun games, my kids are loving it.”

With a donation to the MATC Student Food Bank, families received free food and drink vouchers that they could use to buy lunch.
