Habitat for Humanity Information

Dear Student Legal Clinic,
I missed the Habitat for Humanity workshop. I would like to know more about how to become a Habitat homeowner.

Dear LaQunanda,

Habitat for Humanity is focusing on the Park West/Amani and Washington Park neighborhoods presently. In order to qualify for this program you must meet these minimum requirements:
• Be a family or individual in need of decent
affordable housing
• Fit into the income guidelines
• Be employed & at your current job for at least 1 yr
OR
have steady income from disability or other
sources to meet the financial guidelines
• Have fairly decent credit history
• No judgments and/or liens against you
• No bankruptcy filed in the past two years
• No member of household appearing on the sexual
offenders database
• No pending divorces
• Be a first time homeowner
• Be willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity and
work 200-500 sweat equity service hours
