Student musicians crank it to 11 to beat hunger

One out of every nine households in Wisconsin struggles with hunger. To help, MATC’s Music Occupations program will host the “Rock Hunger Task Force Benefit Concert,” which is the epitome of what can be achieved when a room is filled with passionate, gifted musicians all striving for excellence and giving back to the community through entertainment and arts. The primary purpose of this semiannual benefit is to raise non-perishable food and cash donations for the Hunger Task Force. This gala gets better and better with time. This upcoming event is going to be as hot as ever with acts Jake Weyenburg, Daniel Mcnall, Jorden Baas, Dan Alexander Trio, Sky Mccloud, Amber Alert, Conquering Lilly, Tumera Divine, Rerun Slade, Ayinde Garry and the G-Spot Trio, as well as the MATC All-Star Alumni Band with Loop Florez, Kirk Tatnall, Keshena Armon, Ben Hans and Mark Yencheske.
During an interview with performer and stage manager Ronnie Frakes, of the Audio Production program, told me he’s on board to promote the Hunger Task Force, gain more experience, and raise the awareness of this cause.
Hayden Crownover, a sophomore in MATC’s music associate degree program, will be working as a stagehand and as a lead guitarist in the show. He feels really good with his role in this event.
This show is organized and produced by students in the Music Business 2 class under the directorship of Ben Hans, a professional musician and instructor, and a guy that is truly well-seasoned and epic in his field of study. The students work hard every semester to throw an extravaganza that is more impressive than the last. From hip hop to heavy rock, the event is diverse when it comes to the different genres of style that cross many barriers on the spectrum of musical interpretation. The excitement is happening on Thursday, Dec. 18 from 6 – 11:30 p.m. at the Best Place at The Historic Pabst Brewery.
