Dr. Jim Wand, a professional hypnotist, has been entertaining the MATC West Allis campus for 22 years. Wand is a wonderful entertainer, but he also wants to help people and educate them on the true power of hypnotism.

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness that can assist you in changing a bad habit, such as smoking, stress, etc.

Wand performs nationwide and averages about 200 shows a year.  Each show is customized by the audience he will be performing with.

The performance on Oct. 3 was broken down into two sessions.  The first session that Wand did was to demonstrate the fun of hypnosis and was truly entertaining. Jordan Engler, a welding student, said, “The experience was good, I got to take a nice nap.  I don’t remember much and when I got up my legs felt foggy.”

Kionna Hardy, a psychology program student, said, “It was awesome! I feel good and I remember I was moving around a lot.”

The second session began with an introduction to how Wand started with hypnotism and a deeper explanation on the process of it. Then slowly a soft music began and he brought everyone into a hypnotized state.

Each person in the group got to pick the one thing they wanted to work on: headaches, remembering things for tests and self-esteem.

The group was hypnotized for about 20 minutes and then slowly he brought them out of that state. You can learn more on his website, www.Hypnotism.com.
