Creating a newspaper can be challenging, exciting and rewarding. I found this to be true when I joined the MATC Times newspaper. The newspaper challenges me to use not only my graphic design skills but my speaking skills as well.

Some of my spare time is spent  reading and looking at the layout of articles. During my first semester at MATC there were flyers around campus to join the MATC Times. I eventually joined in March of 2012 to learn news paper design, page layout and understand grid systems.  Later that summer I became the Online Editor... Which is something new to me. I am still learning and picking up new things as I go.

The rewards for some may be few but those few are gratifying.  To first of all see the finished product and realize I had a part in its creation. The knowledge that people are being informed of events not only in our school but around the city.  I learned a lot of things about newspaper design from adviser Bob Hanson during my time on the Times staff. I hope to use the things I learned from him in future career opportunities.
