If you were thinking about opening a checking account at the MATC branch of TCF Bank, time is quickly running out. After the end of this semester, TCF will be vacating their space on the third floor of the Downtown Milwaukee Campus’ Student Building.TCF’s contract with MATC expires this summer. According to Brenda Saugstad of Student Services, TCF decided not to renew their contract. Students who have accounts with TCF were notified by letter of the bank’s decision to leave MATC.
Employees of the Downtown MATC branch will be assigned to different branches in the southeastern Wisconsin area.
Account holders have the option to continue banking with TCF. Those choosing to do so would still receive the same benefits including totally free checking, no minimum balance requirements, free checks and no monthly fees.
Students who opened their accounts at MATC also could also make two withdrawals from non-TCF ATM machines without paying a fee.
After TCF leaves, students will lose those two free withdrawals. Students will not be able to access their accounts with their Campus Card anymore either, but they can still obtain a Check Card from TCF.
At a recent MATC board meeting it was decided that US Bank would occupy the space next to the Campus Card office. TCF’s last day of operation at MATC’s Downtown Milwaukee Campus will be July 10, 2009.
