The MATC Stormers baseball team is off to a roaring start this season. The Stormers are playing strong with a team win/loss percentage of 75%; their record is 10 wins 7 losses. Led by Head Coach Frank Cimorelli, the team has a strong focus. With the team spirit and optimism high, the team knows that every game played brings them one step closer to the NJCAA title.
One of the Stormers top pitchers and current strikeout leaders is #18 freshman John Riehle, 1B/P of New Berlin (New Berlin West HS). His record is at 21.0 strikeouts, with 26.0 innings played, and an average of .808 strikeouts per inning.
A close second is returning star sophomore #11 Alex Zarek, OF/P of Milwaukee (Cudahy High), who is at 20.0 strikeouts, with 21.0 innings played, and an average of .938 strikeouts per inning.
Holding a strong third is returning sophomore #14 Brendan Dorn, Utl./P of Milwaukee (Milwaukee Lutheran HS) with a 18.0 strikeouts, 23.0 innings played, and an average of .783 strikeouts per inning.
Another strikeout leader to watch is returning sophomore #1 Mike Sherrick, Inf/P of Saukville (Port Washington HS) who is at 16.0 strikeouts, 21.0 innings played, with an average of .762 strikeouts per inning.
Thanks in large part to a few heavy hitters, the Stormers team batting average is .309, holding 88.0 team hits, with a 285.0 team AB. Leading the Stormers in hitting is #19 freshman Tyler
Sadowske, of Mukwonago (Mukwonago HS) with 51 AB, 16 GP, 1 HR, 11 RBIs and .353 BA.
A close second is returning sophomore #24 Jordan Gawronski, 3B/C of Mukwonago, WI (Mukwonago High) with 28 AB, 9 GP, 1 HR, 11 RBIs and .321 BA.
Rounding third is hard-hitting freshman #16 Nick Heppe, of Sussex (Sussex Hamilton HS) with 46 AB, 15 GP, 1 HR, 6 RBIs and .261 BA.
