The search for the future MATC president is in progress. Students from MATC West Allis and Downtown Milwaukee Campuses were given an opportunity to voice their opinions about the qualities expected and possible challenges from the institution’s future president.Asha’Re Porter, Interior Design, West Allis Campus:
“I would like to see someone who is interested in the students, someone who communicates and cares about the school, someone who has a professional work ethic.”
Erica Rieb, Nursing, West Allis Campus:
“Students should be directed to the right place. I would like to see someone who pursues his administration to provide proficient counseling. People who desire to be in a better economic status should be given an opportunity. The president should maintain Admissions, Financial Aid and Registration Department to be run effectively. Having more classes in the suburban areas would be beneficial. The Nursing program is spread around the city and could be available in more campuses. A shuttle could be useful to get students to all MATC campuses.”
Trish Tiedt, Radiology, West Allis Campus:
“Someone who advocates for us and faculty advisors. A plan to advocate students with program procedures and a more in-depth orientation could be put into action. Orientation should specifically address student needs, and less advertising would be appreciated. There is a small Financial Aid office in the West Allis Campus, which is a big issue. All information should be in one area of the school to prevent students from having to travel all across the building in one day. The school could use more staff.”
Tamika Morris (not pictured), Cosmetology program, Downtown Milwaukee Campus: “Needs to listen to students. Give advice.”
Maria Garcia Aguilar (not pictured), License Practical Nurse Program, Downtown Milwaukee Campus:
“I would like to see someone who can relate to students more than just academically, especially with the economy the way it is right now. Have more study areas. Lack of centers in the Main Building. More food selections in the cafeteria.”
Heather Thomas (not pictured), Liberal Arts, Downtown Milwaukee Campus: “Make it an easier experience for students, easier time to get around. Make the process of attending MATC easier.
