Walter J. Lanier, president of Lanier Law Offices, Ltd., was recently appointed assistant general counsel for Milwaukee Area Technical College. Before opening his own law practice, he was an attorney with Michael Best & Friedrich, LLP, for three years.As a private attorney, Lanier served as chairman of the Milwaukee County Pension Board after it was restructured in 2002-2003. He served as deputy law clerk for Judge John W. Reynolds and was a lecturer in the Department of Africology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
He holds a doctor of jurisprudence degree from the University of Michigan Law School and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and is pursuing a Master of Divinity degree from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas.
The largest technical college in the state, Milwaukee Area Technical College is a key driver of the economy in southeastern Wisconsin.
