An historical moment passed on April 28th when MATC formally began a new partnership with three more historically black colleges, making a total of nine HBCU transfer opportunities for students. MATC now has in place transfer opportunities with North Carolina A&T (Greensboro, NC), Talladega College (Talladega, Alabama), and Jackson State University (Jackson, Mississippi). Last Monday, a transfer agreement signing ceremony was held in Room M210 to honor the new partnership and to commemorate MATC students, faculty and the administration for “promoting student-focused teaching and learning, student transfer opportunities, faculty collaboration and for supporting innovative programs that nurture student success.”
The ceremony also honored HBCU alumni, including those who began at MATC and acquired baccalaureate or doctorate degrees from one of the nine HBCU’s partners.
The new partnerships will provide students the pathway to a prestigious education by attending one of the nation’s most highly honored historically black colleges.
Other MATC-HBCU transfer agreements include: Bennett College (Greensboro, NC), Lane College (Jackson, Tennessee), Miles College (Birmingham, Alabama), Paine College (Augusta, Georgia), Rust College (Holly Springs, Mississippi) and Texas College (Tyler, Texas).
