“Two hundred and fifty thousand vets are homeless on the streets each night and 135 commit suicide each week in the U.S.,” according to Mark Foreman from Veterans for Peace. MATC vets had their chance to voice their opinions and listen to speakers addressing veteran’s issues at the recent Veterans Forum. The event took place in the S building lounge and the 6th Floor M building conference area on November 11th. Speakers included Dr. James Scott from MATC veterans affairs and Michael Janczy, MATC LPN 2008 graduate and US Army officer.
“We have officers in place; all we need is 25 signatures to make our veterans organization work here (MATC),” says Al Pickney, Associate Vice President Student Services. Several vets voiced their opinions about how they could be helped and counseled for employment and education.
