Stormers’ Womens Basketball caught up to the Fond du Lac Falcons halfway through the first half and pulled away for their first victory of the regular season in a home game. The final score was in favor of the Stormers, 63-47. For the first ten minutes the Stormers shooting was cold and the Falcons took advantage of timely passing. The Stormers were able to close to within a point after being down five points and took the lead, 13-12, after Fond du lac had called a time out to regroup.Stormers’ Head Coach Travis Mrozek said that his team needed to get warmed up. The Stormers were able to catch up after enforcing a full court press that gave the Falcons some problems. The Stormers’ head coach said that he decided to call for the press to get even with the Falcons, and he decided to take the press off once they pulled ahead.
Several steals resulted in baskets for the Stormers. With six minutes left in the half, they slowed the pace down and shortly thereafter hit a three pointer that gave them a 24-15 lead. That prompted the Falcons to call for a time out to attempt to prevent the game from getting out of hand.
The Stormers took control of the game after the time out and at halftime they were leading 41-20. The final outcome of the game was never in question during the second half, even with Stormers’ bench players getting a chance to play.
The head coach was satisfied with the effort of his team in the game. “All I ask of the girls every single night is that they work hard and play with heart,” Mrozek said.
