In celebration of St.Patricks Day, Irish Harpist, Dorothy Walsh-Best performed as part of the on-going Global Music Celebration, which was initiated in the fall of 2010. The Office of International Education and Office of Student Life were co-hosts of the event.Jacqueline Robinson, sociology instructor spoke about the premise of the concerts, “The whole purpose is to share the performance and art traditions and to celebrate it throughout the world.” While some of these unique events are available on the other campuses, Robinson added that it was important to share these experiences at Mequon, “So the students know that they have access to all of these cultures.”
In response to students being able to write papers on, or fulfill an extra credit assignment by attending a global concert, Robinson stated, “Absolutely.Absolutely.Absolutely,” noting that, “They have to tie-in with one of the concepts we have discussed in the course.”
According to Robinson, the “Global Concert Series is part of a grant that MATC received (in part for) internationalizing the curriculum.
