After 37 years, Rose Scholz of the Lock & key Department
decided to retire. Her Supervisor, Rich Dries said: “She’s always
put the college’s interest as her top priority.”
He also indicated that he has worked with Ms. Scholz for the
past 17 years. When asked, Ms. Scholz indicated that she had to
deal with 15,000 different keys as well as about 3,000 different
locks. She also indicated that there had been break-ins during
her time here, “but at different times, and that it didn’t happen
all of the time.”
Upon asking her if people lose their keys a lot, she indicated:
“often enough.” Her other job duties included: Review plans
for Construction, strings of keys (for different levels), and
Electronic Access System Keying Schemes.
Ms. Scholzs’ hobbies upon retirement will be wood working,
as well as continuing to take classes here at MATC (which she is
currently doing). Her work here has been greatly appreciated.
