It was a day gone to the dogs for those who attended Wag Fest. Wag Fest is Elmbrook Humane Society’s largest annual fundraising event. This year it was held on Saturday, September 20, at Fox Brook Park in Brookfield.Yet, it was more than just a fundraiser. Wag Fest was about building relationships between people and their dogs. Although there was a fee (from $30 on up, depending on how many dogs you had), that fee allowed your dog to try some activities at no additional cost. Those activities included agility, obedience trials, scent tracking, and lure coursing, which is where the dogs chase rabbit fur tied to a bag. They even used a radar gun to catch the speed of the dogs running on the lure course. One Jack Russell Terrier was clocked in at 24 mph.
All proceeds went to Elmbrook Humane Society to continue their mission, which according to their website, “is to promote the human-animal bond through adoption and education, to provide shelter to homeless animals, and to prevent animal cruelty and neglect.
