While we may have missed the initial 2011 book discussion (which was held earlier this month) there is still time to gear-up for book chat number two and number three. Held at the Mequon campus, as follows is a preview of lectures and reads:
Nobody’s Home: Candid Reflections of a Nursing Home Aide, by Thomas Edward Gass’ highlights the authors personal experiences in assisted living facilities while working as a nursing aide. His journey also talks of transformation, pride and hope. The guest hostess for the evening is Julienne Rock, nursing instructor. March 23, 2011 from 7:00-8:15 pm in Room A114.
The lectures end with Bill McKibben’s, Earth: Making a Life on a Tough New Planet, which addresses concerns and hopeful solutions for the issue of global warming. (McKibben is going to be a guest lecturer at the 2011 Green Energy Summit on Thursday, March 10th.) The host for the book discussion will be George Stone, natural science instructor. April 27th, 2011 from 7:00 – 8:15pm in Room A289.
