MATC TV Video Production student Nathaniel Schardin has talked to glaciologists, farmers, and creationists and he has learned that opinions about what is going on with planet Earth vary widely. ” There are many different views (on how the earth was made) but we still need to work on fixing it,” he said.
This was part of a message Schardin and fellow student producers, Antonio Cole and Jacob Fatke, were trying to make on their documentary,
A GLASS OF WARM MILK: A MESSAGE ON CLIMATE FROM AMERICA’S DAIRYLAND.
It placed first at the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Student Awards for Excellenceand may be viewed at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RpRdfXjp6w.
“MATC’s affect (on me) has been a lot more rewarding than I’ve ever expected it would be,” Schardin said.
His goal is to work for National Geographic or the Discovery Channel and he currently pursues rock climbing.
He is currently working on another documentary entitled
PERSEVERANCE: CLIMBING IN THE FLATLAND.
This has already earned a tie for first place with UWM in the 2011 Media Communications Association- International (MCA-I) “Video Cirque 2011.”
This piece is scheduled to premiere May 14 on MPTV 36.1 for Student Ops Day. A five minute clip is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xc-03FQshVc&feature=channel_video_title
