Stormer basketball season is nearly over. If you haven’t made it out to Alverno College, 43rd and Morgan Street, for one of our exciting home games this season, you still have time.
There are two home games left: Saturday, Feb.16 at 1 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. The ladies start out the doubleheader with the men playing right after. Games last approximately two hours.
The women are a vivacious group of ladies. They are competing against teams nearly double in size, but you never hear a complaint from them.
This tenacious team of 10, nearly all freshman, continues to develop their ball handling and communication skills. The top scorers, averaging at least 18 points a game are: guard Tori Sykes, forward Hadeel Abujaber, forward Jasmine Gray and forward Emerald Kidd.
The men have had a rough start to the season, as this group, mostly freshman, work toward creating a cohesive team.
Based on recent games including a four-game winning streak, they are well on their way to becoming a force to be reckoned with. Guard Alex Oldenburg, forward Jeffery Moncrief and guard Jermaine Brisco are your high scoring guards, each averaging over 20 points a game.
If you forget the game time or date, you can always check on the MATC homepage.
