On October 6, 2008, the MATC women’s volleyball team beat UW-Washington three out of four sets. It was the second meeting of the year between the two teams, with MATC losing the first. Women’s Volleyball Coach Melissa Blessington said after the game that she was very pleased with her team. They were able to play at a high level for an entire match, a task which they’ve been trying to do all year. On Monday night’s match, the Stormers volleyball team did a great job placing the ball on the court and making the other team work on defense. Sophomore Trisha Maurer (Greenfield, Wis.) led the team with 33 digs in the match, 14 kills and 4 service aces. Meanwhile, sophomore Brittany Wahlen (Union Grove, Wis.) had a season high of 39 assists for the team.
From Coach Blessington’s point of view, she believed that it was a great team effort by everyone. Blessington continued on to say afterwards that, “Every girl contributed in a way that added to their success.”
