Thinking about buying a fuel-efficient car in the near future? What are the benefits? How are the vehicles different? Wisconsin Clean Cities has teamed up with MATC to sponsor the 8th Annual Green Vehicles Workshop on Friday, April 29 where you can see the newest fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles including the Chevrolet Volt and Ford Fusion.
The event starts at 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and is open to the public. MATC students may sign up for free. Open registration is $20 prior to April 18, or $25 on or after April 19 and includes continental breakfast and lunch.
Check-in and continental breakfast starts at 8 a.m., followed by MATC President Michael Burke’s welcome to the event at MATC’s downtown Campus at the Student Service Building in Room S120. Erick Shambarger, Environmental Sustainability Manager from the City of Milwaukee, will discuss the government’s role in reducing pollutants and increasing fuel efficiency and energy independence.
Keynote speaker John Gurda, Milwaukee’s favorite and local historian, will present the city’s history and present state of transportation.
Moderator George Stone, Green Energy Summit Chairman, will introduce experts on alternative fuels including fuel cells, biodiesels, compressed natural gas cars and trucks, and gasoline-electric hybrids and hydrogen-engines. Learn how alternative fuels are being used, about electric vehicle technology and available options, and the specifics of manufacturers’ new models.
During lunch, grab a box lunch and meet the dealers or owners of energy-efficient vehicles displayed outdoors on the Student Center mall plaza.
To register or learn more, contact [email protected] or call 414-221-4487. MATC students must pre-register by April 22 for lunch and present their student I.D. at check in. Even if you cannot attend the workshop, you can still join the experts at the Vehicle Expo on the mall plaza.
