Dietetic Tech program prepares futures in healthy meals
The Dietetic Technician program at MATC is geared to students and professionals, and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Nutrition and Dietetics Education. Program classes are taught by a team of Registered Dietitian faculty, one of whom is Heidi Katte, MS, RD, CD, in MATC’s School of Health and Sciences.
This program’s students will be getting ready to enter into a highly beneficial and in-demand career.
Katte has been an MATC instuctor for four years and a Consultant Dietitian for 15 years.
Through the courses, students get a full understanding of how to make and teach others about healthy choices and disease prevention. It is about getting a full understanding of how nutrition education classes, business management and food nutrition can work together in making lives healthier, and people becoming more knowledgeable about what they are really putting into their bodies.
“Through clinic experiences,” Katte said, “students learn modern management techniques to select and train employees, maintain departmental records, purchase food and supplies, supervise meal service, plan meetings, analyze, correct problems and develop interdepartmental communication.”
After completing this program there will be many areas students can expand their horizons.
A field combination of biology, chemistry, health sciences and nutrition leads to a wide variety of jobs such as creating healthy meals served at corporate events, long-term care facilities, lunch programs, correctional facilities, clinical hospital settings, WIC programs, wellness classes and much more.
The Dietetic Technician program is a great up-and- coming program for those who want to share with others the ways to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
