Campus awareness key to prevention
With the end of April comes the end of Sexual Assault Awareness month. Students who suffer from sexual violence need to know they are not alone and there are many resources available to help.
They can contact the local police department, notify MATC Public Safety, call the local Sexual Assault Treatment Center at 414-219-5555 or seek support from friends and family.
We need to arm ourselves with an understanding of not only what sexual assault is, but how it affects survivors and what we can do to provide them with a supportive network.
By supporting such causes like the recent Denim Day, every student, faculty and staff can be an agent of change, not just in April, but in our dialogue, questions, actions and long-term mindset.
