Student Government dishes out treats

Michael Fisher, Sergeant at Arms of the Student Government, was pleased to pour hot fudge onto the students bowl of ice cream, while Reggie Adams, Vice President of the Student Government, served the ice cream.

What a great day it was to welcome students to the fall semester, and what better way to do so than by giving out ice cream on such a hot summer day. Members of the Student Government of Downtown Milwaukee campus set up the Ice Cream Social.

Erika Crosby, Advisor of the organization, was excited for the students to drop by and get a bowl of their favorite ice cream. They had everyone’s favorite selections to choose from; chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla, with toppings of hot fudge, caramel, and whipped cream to top it off.

Many of the students were anxious for the ice cream. They needed something cold for the heat that was roaming the city. Spencer Sartin, Culinary Student, and Jasmine Harris, Work Study student, were two of the first of many waiting in line. They were excited, but also trying to get to class on time, but wouldn’t leave until they got their favorite cup of ice cream.

While the students were patiently waiting for the ice cream, I had the chance to ask them where they saw or heard about the event.

Some said they saw a bulletin on the walls throughout the campus, Patricia Payne, Human Services student, said she saw it on the MATC website. It’s good to know that the students of MATC are aware of the events that are being held on campus.
