Project JRAP (Juvenile Reentry Assistance Program) at MATC

Project JRAP (Juvenile Reentry Assistance Program) is a partnership with The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee and Legal Action of Wisconsin, Inc. whose goal is to help young adults eliminate legal barriers to employment and housing so they can become more self-sufficient.

The program serves young adults ages eighteen – twenty – four, who have an adult and/or juvenile record, who are currently living in public housing or are former household members of current public housing residents who, but for their criminal record would be living in public housing.

Project JRAP provides free legal representation to assist eligible individuals with the following: criminal expungement of adult and juvenile records; driver’s license restoration; removing, modifying or resolving conflicting financial obligations that stem from the court system; advocating for occupational licensing with appropriate agencies; contesting improper eviction proceedings and Fair Housing Act issues; helping modify or create child support orders; assisting with access to public benefits; and counseling regarding legal rights and obligations in searching for employment.

A representative from Project JRAP will be available at the MATC downtown campus every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the S building for the Fall and Spring semesters. Please utilize this valuable resource.
