Women return to the field
It’s been a year of building
After not having a women’s soccer team for three seasons, head coach Lati Ziba’s goal was simple: Put a team on the field every game and complete the season.
Whenever you are competing on the field the goal is to win, but with a team this new, just completing a season would be a huge victory for the team.
Ziba said, “We knew that winning would be a challenge, however it’s not winning or losing that gets us to the next season, it’s the team and every single player on it. Relationships and good grades will buy us at least another season.”
The team finished the season with a 0W-13L record, but they did manage to buy themselves another opportunity for success next season.
In the offseason Ziba wants the women to play as much soccer as they can. He noted that a few of the women on the team will be playing club soccer, which will help a lot.
In addition, Ziba would like the women to spend time together off the field and build chemistry, which will translate to more wins on the field.
