Disappointing season draws to an end
A 1-4 loss to Madison College on Oct. 15 ended the men’s soccer team’s hopes for the playoffs. Losing was a common trend for the team this season as they finished with a 1W-14L record. However, that one win was a big milestone for the team. Assistant coach Anthony Shelby said, “It was the biggest highlight of the season.”
The win came against UW-Waukesha, and snapped a winless streak that had been glooming over the team for the last three seasons. The Stormers not only won, they won in big fashion, shutting out UW-Waukesha 6-0.
The season was very rough for the Stormers. They were never quite able to achieve the chemistry they were hoping for, which resulted in them losing a lot of close games.
Shelby wants to take his young core of players and add to it next season. He and the rest of the coaching staff will spend much of the offseason scouting high school soccer matches searching for talent.
