Lady Stormers shine in second game
Lady Stormers turn this around
The Lady Stormers were matched up against Fox Valley Technical college on Friday Nov. 4 the first half seemed like more of the same for the Lady Stormers as they struggled on both sides of the ball. On offense they turned the ball over 12 times and went 3-19 on three pointers. First half standouts for MATC consisted of Brittany Kaltenberg who put 10 points shooting 40% from the field and Nwoye Greene who was a beast on the board grabbing 9 first half rebounds. The Stormers went into halftime with a dismal 28-25 lead.
Assistant Coach Anna Boteva emphasized defensive awareness, staying out of foul trouble and playing smart as the keys to building a bigger lead in the second half. The Stormers echoed Botevas instructions as they put up 24 points in just the third quarter, cumulatively more than all of Fox Valley’s second half points, which was 22.
The Stormers scoring efforts were led once again by Kaltenburg who ended the game with 15 total points and Tara Jefferson who ended with 11 points. What really won the game for them was the rebounding as Jefferson, Green and Mickaiah Jones-Cogwell combined for 38 rebounds compared to Fox Valleys 45 rebounds as a whole team.
The Stormers are now 1W-1L on the season and if they continue this hard nosed classic style of basketball they seem to be so effective at playing there will be alot more W’s in the games to come.
