Beat procrastination with these study tips

Beat procrastination with these study tips

That test isn’t going to study for itself, I like to say. I am a queen at procrastinating, especially when it’s so easy to binge- watch another season of “Glee” instead of studying for my math test.

It’s easy to beat procrastination when you have various study systems under your belt. I’d like to help you study for your next test with these few study tips.

Of course there are many ways to prepare for tests and exams. Everyone works differently. These are the tips that help me the most and I hope that they help you as well.
Happy studying!

Prioritize your workload from most important to least important. Why study for your math test that’s next week before you review for your psych exam that’s coming up this Tuesday? Always do what you feel is more important so you can meet deadlines and due dates.

Quizlet is your best friend, trust me. While using actual note cards is sort of a waste of paper, there’s always Quizlet. Quizlet is your home for digital flash cards and games to help you review for whichever subject you wish. More than 95 percent of students have seen results in their grades while using Quizlet. That’s a big percentage!

Find a study buddy! The next time you have a big test, ask a friend to study with you. While it’s fun to have a friend around, you can get twice as much done if you put your heads together. Your study buddy can quiz you on terms and concepts as well.

Use an app/website blocker if you get easily distracted. Yes, it may be fun to scroll your Twitter feed, but when you have to study it’s super inconvenient. There are plenty of app blockers and website blockers. One app called Forest blocks all functions on your phone when you set a timer. There is a digital tree growing while you work. If you open your phone, then the tree dies. It’s more of a motivation- driven app.

Rewrite your notes. Rewriting your notes a couple times helps the information sink in.

Color-code your notes. It’s more appealing to the eye and easier to remember if your information is labeled in different colors. Invest in a few different colored pens or pencils. Avoid doodling in the margins. Your notes might get sloppy.
