Gideon Verdin-Williams, who uses the handle DJ GidMoney, is a photojournalist for TMJ4 news and a co-founder of Poetry for the Soul. I had the opportunity to speak with him briefly. As an aspiring journalist, I wanted to know what he loved about journalism. “I love what I do because every day is a film festival, and every day I tell a story,” Gideon said. He has been in the journalism profession for 11 years, and “fell into the love of journalism.”
“Publishing for TMJ4 news, you look forward to something. You’re assigned to write a story for eight hours, then it’s published on the news. It is fun,” he said. He also mentioned that it can be very dramatic and there are “ups and downs.” Gideon said, “I recommend therapy for challenging stories. If you’re looking to be a journalist, it’s in your favor. It’s all about showing what you can do.”
