In their April general assembly meeting, the District Student Association (DSA) approved $2,500 in funding to help create a more sustainable library program for the Milwaukee Correctional Facility. The proposal came from Holly Ryan, one of the volunteer librarians in the facility, who gave a very passionate presentation about the importance of the program.
Ryan also proposed an annual paperback book drive to help keep the jail library updated and fresh, to which the DSA formally agreed – with the first book drive to take place in the 2024-2025 Fall semester. Keep an eye out for updates on how you can get involved!
