The works of local artists were recognized at a reception and presentation at MATC’s Education Center at Walker’s Square. Most of the Community Art Collection works are from MATC students and alumni.
The college displays the work of local artists to “celebrate and recognize our shared history and diversity.” On Wednesday, August 28, work from four of the 16 artists in the collection was revealed.
There is a competitive process to have artists’ work displayed at various MATC campuses. This year, 57 artists submitted proposals. The works selected to display were chosen by the college’s community art selection committee. The Community Arts Collection is now in its fourth year.
