If there is a student who has never struggled with the process of financing their education for at least a single semester at MATC, then I don’t know that person. As you are likely aware, between each semester it is on the student to get their financial situation with the college together, otherwise they are unable to register for classes.
If you are not in good standing with the college, you will not be able to register for classes!
So, the time to get your situation together is now, and not in January!!
Check with your Self Service and see if you have an outstanding balance of more than $200. From there, you can also make a payment plan and get back in good standing with the college in order to register.
The absolute best thing you can do, however, is to call MATC Student Accounts and make sure that they know your intentions, and you will be quoted for an initial down payment that will allow you to register.
We also encourage students to complete their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). There are students that the FAFSA is not able to assist, such as students with too few credit hours or students in programs like Truck Driving that do not accept federal financial aid. However, these students should still complete the FAFSA as that will provide access to grants and other financial aid, beyond Pell Grant and federal student loans.
Students receiving aid for future semesters may still be required to pay past balances before they are able to register for classes. All of the students who will be receiving the Checota Scholarship must also pay down their previously held debt before the aid from that grant will pay for your tuition.
Students who are returning after a break from school of over one year may qualify for the ReStart Program. This is a small sum forgiveness program that is available to students with a balance less than $1,500 and have completed at least 6 credits in their past attempts at MATC.
The FAST Fund may also assist students with paying down past due balances, and students can apply at the FAST Fund website.
