(This text was sent to student leaders and advisors by Warren Murphy. It offers some insight on student leadership opportunities for those who want to shape the college and represent fellow students.)
As Chairperson of the District Student Association (DSA), I am writing to encourage you and your members to consider running for an officer position for the 2025-2026 academic year. We recognize the work you have already put forth to help shape our MATC community, and we believe that you could increase your impact as a member of the DSA Executive Board.
As a DSA officer, you have the unique opportunity to:
-
Shape Student Life: DSA officers are responsible for planning, approving, and executing student-oriented programs and events. You have the opportunity to actively shape the student experience across all campuses and ensure that all students are represented equally.
-
Represent Student Voices: DSA officers are representatives of the student body to the faculty, administration, and the MATC District Board. You control the platform necessary to advocate for student needs, and you have the ability to actively contribute to policy decisions that affect the entire college.
-
Develop Leadership Skills: Serving as a DSA officer offers a unique leadership experience. You will gain skills in presiding over meetings, managing budgets, enforcing parliamentary procedures, and working collaboratively with a large team made up of college faculty, staff, administration, and students. These are skills that will benefit you long after your time at MATC.
We are looking for individuals who are committed to shaping our college and representing their fellow students. If you are ready to take on a leadership role and make a difference, we encourage you to consider the DSA officer positions and responsibilities listed in this interest form: Please consider applying here today. The application takes roughly 1-2 minutes and the deadline to apply is Apr 16, 2025.
