The Midwest Gaming Classic 2025 was incredible. It had a main hall called Future Classics dedicated to hosting indie and professional studios from the local game development community of the Midwest. MATC’s Mothership Club was able to attend and host a booth within the Future Classics section, where we showed off student game projects. We were able to showcase gameplay with a projector that displayed gameplay trailers on the wall.
There were a multitude of areas within the Future Classics section to check out including a large portable arcade in the back of a trailer, a monster truck, and rows upon rows of classic arcade cabinets, pinball machines, and old gaming systems. Outside the Future Classics hall, the main hallway had stands set up for local artists, a tattoo artist, and even a live DJ/dancing area. The vendor hall featured hundreds of booths where local artists and collectors were selling goods.
Some highlights were the potions booth, sword vendors, large golden prints, and many more. In this hall there was also a wrestling ring where two wrestlers were fighting in front of a huge crowd. In other halls throughout the convention, there were smaller arcade setups for attendees to play in. There were also talks scattered about that were being given by professionals with advice on various gaming-related topics. Cosplayers were also walking around enjoying the event. Overall, it was a huge success, and marked another great year for game development.
