All MATC campuses and facilities, including departments, offices, libraries and labs, will be closed Thursday, June 19, to observe Juneteenth National Independence Day. Juneteenth was established as a federal holiday in 2021 to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. It marks the day enslaved people in Texas learned they were free more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
