MATC hosted a Student Orientation at the Downtown Campus on August 12. During the panel discussion, Janelle Berry, supervisor for advising with the specialty of orientation in express enrollments, and Parth Dogra, a current student, shared their advice with new students.
Janelle Berry, supervisor for advising:
“My advice to first time students is to embrace the journey, don’t rush it. Make sure to build your tribe and community while you are here. This includes advisors, friends and different resources that are offered here for you.”
Parth Dogra, current MATC student:
“I honestly feel that being at MATC it doesn’t matter where you came from, no matter what stage you are in your life, you’ll find help and support through staff and faculty. They are there to help you but as a student it is also your responsibility to put in some effort. Show up, make those connections, reach out, ask questions, keep exploring, and reach for your goals. If something doesn’t work out, just keep on exploring and keep trying.”
