Things are returning to normal today at MATC following yesterday’s lockdown. Some students are still pretty shaken up after having to shelter in place.
Details of the lockdown were shared with the MATC community via an email from Marketing & Communications. The text is as follows:
“October 23, 2025
All Clear Issued After Downtown Milwaukee Campus Lockdown
At 1:45 p.m. Public Safety received a report from an employee who observed three individuals wearing ski masks (see photo below.) Based on the description, Public Safety located the individuals on camera and observed them behaving suspiciously. As a precaution, the campus was placed in lockdown while police were contacted to ensure there was no threat.
The Milwaukee Police Department searched the campus. They did not locate the suspects and found no danger. No one was injured. The all clear was given at approximately 2:36 p.m. Public Safety will continue to monitor the incident and is communicating with law enforcement.
We understand how stressful this type of incident can be, however our priority is the safety of our campus community. We take all suspicious behavior seriously and initiate necessary precautions. Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is available in room S209 until 6 p.m. tonight, and Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. for any student wishing to speak with a counselor.
Employees are encouraged to contact the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) 800-236-3231.
