Wet weather and forfeitures by other teams has stunted the soccer season, but that has not dampened the spirits of the players. The women of soccer have had four of their 12 games canceled and have not won a game this season, yet. Their head coach, Robert Blake, said that it is not uncommon for a new team to have these growing pains.
As you watch them play, their love of the game is obvious. This small group of ladies has been working hard to hone their skills and hope to show their improvement in an upcoming tournament.
Roger Staubach, American football player, once said: “All of us get knocked down, but it’s resiliency that matters. All of us do well when things are going well, but the thing that distinguishes athletes is the ability to do well in times of great stress, urgency and pressure.”
They may have been outgunned this season but this small team of freshmen will be back next year, ready to compete. All MATC sports information can be found at matcstormers.com. Also follow your team on Twitter or Facebook. Go Stormers!
