You walk into a room, and things seem normal until you notice the dead body lying on the floor. There are clues all around you, but you can’t seem to figure out if somebody committed murder or suicide. Sounds like a page right from a horror story, right? Actually, this was the scene when people walked into the room at Discovery World for CSI: Milwaukee. While at the crime scene, participants searched for clues, took notes and asked questions regarding the crime that had taken place. Afterwards, the MATC Criminal Justice – Law Enforcement instructors William Joers, Jr., and Tom Hanratty explained how the crime would be investigated in real life and who committed the crime.
In addition to the crime scene, there was also a forensics lab, which taught guests to lift, record and read fingerprints, demonstrations by the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department of drug-sniffing dogs taking down suspects, as well as a demonstration by the FBI bomb squad.
This was the kind of experience for people who are interested in solving crimes to truly prove that they can be a detective. The event was sponsored by the MATC Criminal Justice – Law Enforcement, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI.
