You want to play the newest games? We all do, but you don’t always have the cash for new releases. And sometimes beta testing wasn’t what it could have been, and you’ve just shelled out cash for a game that you can’t really play until the developer decides to release a patch.
So, sometimes, it’s cheaper, safer and more fun to buy a game that’s been out for a bit.
There are also always bundle packs, gold editions, games you never got to play and expansion packs for games you already have.
Usually, these types of games are available at more reasonable costs, and have had patches released to fix any bugs that they may have shipped with.
Gears of War – $29.99 – A port of the popular Xbox 360 shoot’em up title, the PC edition has slightly updated graphics and comes with several bonus missions.
World of Warcraft – $19.99 – One of the most popular online role-playing games ever made, WoW offers hours of playtime and nearly unlimited replay value. However, WoW does require a $15 a month subscription.
Portal – $9.99 – A game that is as hard to explain as it is fun to play – first-person puzzle gaming at its finest.
Medieval II: Total War Gold Edition – $29.99 – A bundle pack with both the game and its expansion, both are very well done real-time strategy games.
Battlefield 2: Complete Collection – $29.99 – While a little older than the other games listed here, BF2 is one of the best online multi-player, first-person shooters ever made.
LEGO: Star Wars II – The Original Trilogy – $29.99 – Fun, sometimes silly and chocked full of Stormtroopers, this game is easy to play and appropriate for most ages.
