Many people view sexual assault as primarily a female issue, yet men are subject to this as well. There have been statements concerning sexual assaults and verbal abuses at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus by women. One female, not wanting her name mentioned, told of situations of men approaching her, quite persistently.
When she expressed she was not interested, the comments turned abusive. She even tried to say she had a boyfriend, but even with that, she was hit with the “B” word.
This woman also expressed witnessing these men trying to lure women to more secluded areas, where cameras and people are not found, with the possibility of doing harm. Because of this, she has decided to avoid taking classes at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus.
Yet, there was a sexual assault against a male student at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus in October, according to a report by Public Safety.
Public Safety Specialist Gary Morimoto reported that an instructor approached him with a male student. The student had told the instructor the he was sexually assaulted in the men’s bathroom in the C Building.
Pubic Safety said the student said the suspect opened the bathroom door, “and touched his penis.” He said the suspect asked him if he had to go to class, and if he had to leave. Then the suspect left.
The report said the male student described the suspect as six feet tall, a black male with a beard and medium to dark complexion. He said the suspect was wearing “business attire.”
According to the report, the student had said that he had seen the suspect before, but they had only talked. No one has been arrested at this time.
Public Safety also reported a situation at the West Allis Campus. A student reported that someone was “peeping” behind the handicapped stall in the men’s bathroom.
After receiving the information, Specialist Whitlow went into the bathroom and “knocked on the last stall facing the urinals.” According to the report, Specialist Whitlow heard the suspect “pull off his pants and flush the toilet.”
The report states that the suspect was not a student, and claimed he was just there to use the bathroom. Specialist Whitlow then told the suspect to leave the campus and not return unless he was conducting MATC business. The suspect left without incidence.
Oak Creek – car theft, second time, both stripped, camera not working.
Last month, a 1992 Honda Civic was stolen from the Oak Creek Campus C parking lot. It was stolen between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
According to Oak Creek police, a police officer spoke with MATC Security Officer Gus J. Coleman, who stated that this was the second time a car has been stolen from the parking lot.
The last car, stolen in September of this year, was “completely stripped” by the time it was found on the south side of Milwaukee in the area of 5th and Rodgers Streets.
Although this was the second car to be stolen at this campus, the camera covering the C parking lot was “not working,” according to the statement given to Oak Creek police by Coleman.
The next day, the student’s Civic was found at an apartment complex near 7th and Becher Streets.
The tires had been removed, and speakers were taken. The student had told police the vehicle wasn’t worth much, and did not contain any valuables.
The car was left on milk crates. Police said they swabbed for DNA, but thus far, there are no suspects in this case.
