Here is the conceptual design of the charging station from Kwikboost.
It’s very hard nowadays to leave the house and not see someone using some form of mobile device. Whether it’s a smart phone, laptop, or even a smartwatch, it’s obvious to see we live in a very connected age.
How do we keep our devices running on the go? The simple answer is to bring a charger, but it’s tough to find space to plug it in. A solution that Student Services has is to build a series of device charging stations in the school. Plans are for the stations to be completed by the 2016 fall semester.
Students will be able to open up any of the available spaces and store the device inside, plugging it into an outlet inside the locker. Device size has been taken into consideration and students will have the option to charge laptops as well as phones. Once closed, students receive a key to access the locker. Use of these lockers is free and is meant to be “convenient for students,” said Archie Graham, director of Student Services.
Graham added, “For security purposes cameras will be stationed near the charging area, and campus security officials will have access to the lockers. The only real challenge to the charging stations use is how to keep non-students from charging their devices.” Any student will be able to utilize the stations, and it is recommended that if any device is considered missing, the student should report it to campus security.
