The return of Bad Bad Hats
On December 8th Bad Bad Hats will be back in Milwaukee to preform at the Back Room @Colective. The Band, originally from Minneapolis, is currently touring the country to promote their sophomore album, “Lighting Round”.
For vocalist Kerry Alexander, being a musician is a dream come true. “When I was growing up, I never really saw alive music before,” she says. “I didn’t see a concert until I lived in Minneapolis… We are playing music almost full-time, so it’s pretty amazing to think about.”
With the release of a new album this year, Alexander mentions the troupe of the sophomore slump. “Thinking about Psychic Reader and what I liked about that album, and then thinking about making something else…I just wanted to make a balance of those two,” she says. “I had some existential artistic questions about making ‘Lighting Round’. But creating a second album had it’s ups as well. We do a lot of experimenting, and a lot of going into the room and being like, -just play what comes to you- so that was pretty fun” the vocalist says.
Alexander says she is grateful for the opportunity to tour the country. “nothing’s better than being able to be in front of someone and thank them for listening to your music,” she says. On the other hand, she acknowledges the challenge of traveling everyday to perform. “It is super fun a lot of the time, [but] I don’t think people realize how much of a grind touring can be. It’s both a grind and fulfilling” she said.
Alexander hopes that people can find joy in Bad Bad Hats’ songs. “Music was always really special to me when I was younger,” she says. “I always hope that people can listen to our music and it can be a part or their lives.”
‘Lighting Round’ is now available wherever music is sold or streamed.
