It’s a wrap
As the days get shorter and cooler, it is time to say goodbye to another season of soccer. The men have struggled all season to win a game; their best chance was Sept. 25, against UW-Waukesha, but UW-Waukesha held on to win 4-2. Stormers end their regular season with a crushing 0-13 record; coaching staff was unavailable for comment.
They may not have a win on the scoreboard but they do have a win when it comes to dedication, heart and commitment. Our three freshman goalkeepers–Brandon Xopin (0/28), Francisco Campechano (1/29) and Edgar Morales (99/28) have had no shortage of opportunities to hone their skills during this season. They have all made amazing saves over the course of the season. With little regard for their safety, they have dove in balls being kicked by opponents, dove high in the air to block a line drive headed for the net. It is easy to overlook the hard work they put into each game when you look at a losing score, but don’t. For every score made there may often be two to three shots on goal that were blocked due to the skill of the goalkeeper.
Post-season the Stormers lost 0-7 in the first round of the NJCAA Regional IV Quarterfinal in Joliet, Ill., on Oct. 17.
