Pale Waves moves crowd with powerful performance
On Nov. 23 I was delighted to attend the Pale Waves concert at the Rave/Eagles Club. Finishing up the tour for their new album, “My Mind Makes Noises,” this was their second time in Milwaukee, and the first time I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them live. The four members of the indie-pop band – Heather, Ciara, Hugo, and Charlie – are from the UK and they’ve been around since 2014, but have only been signed to their record label since 2017. Still, they’re gaining popularity rather quickly with their catchy lines and easily contagious dance music. Preceding Pale Waves were their opening acts, the Candescents and Kailee Morgue, who put everyone in the right mood for the main show. Kailee Morgue even did a little meet and greet at the end of her set, and she was so down to earth, it was nice to have a chance at a short conversation with her. The room at the Rave was pretty small but it was intimate, and it made for incredible sound quality. The crowd around me seemed just as excited and into the music, dancing and singing through every song. Highlights for me during the show were “Red” and “There’s a Honey” because they’re some of my favorite songs, so to hear them live with other people that love them, it felt like being connected as a community there. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this concert, and I’d jump at the opportunity to go again. If you find yourself in the mood for some indie-pop dance music, I’d highly recommend checking out Pale Waves.
