Bronzeville Week is underway. The event is a celebration of Black culture, arts, commerce, history and entertainment. It runs through tomorrow. The Bronzeville Cultural & Arts Festival took center stage on Sunday, August 6.
This festival included three stages with live performances from local musicians as well as a dedicated children’s stage for children to showcase their talents. There were also vendors of small Black-owned businesses as well as vendors spreading awareness of housing and financial education.
As I walked through the festival, I encountered many warm-hearted people who seemed to be interested in my work with the camera just as much as they were telling me about their business. I made my way to the main stage where a few local musicians were performing. Artists such as B. Justice, Spider Creek, Zamiya, Wave Chapelle and others performed on the main stage and did not disappoint.
It was also a beautiful sight to see local artists’ family and friends come out to support them and sing their song lyrics with them! In my pictures, I tried to capture the love, joy and summertime fun I saw on this day.
