Donald Trump was sworn in as the United States 47th president on Monday, January 20, 2025. President Trump began his inauguration speech by stating, “The golden age of America begins right now!” He went on to state that, “our government confronts a crisis of distrust.” He follows that statement by declaring that our government has focused on overspending on foreign affairs and events rather than protecting and aiding its own citizens in times of emergencies. He referenced the conditions of North Carolina after Hurricane Helene and Los Angeles being defenseless against the wildfires.
“Our sovereignty will be reclaimed and our safety will be restored, the scales of justice will be rebalanced, the vicious, violent and unfair weaponization department of our government will end,” said President Trump.
During his inauguration address, he made clear the executive orders that he signed later in the day. He mentioned declaring a national emergency of our southern border which will immediately halt all illegal entry into the United States as well as ordering the Defense Department to more heavily involve military resources at the southern border. This will also include designating all cartels and foreign gang organizations as terrorist groups. He declared a national energy emergency related to the economy as well and that he was revoking the electric vehicle mandate. This also included an executive order focusing on Alaskan energy and economic production. Trump’s administration is pushing to take full advantage of boosting Alaska’s liquified natural gas and oil resources. President Trump also addressed social executive orders regarding gender and race. In his speech he stated, ”We will end the government policy of trying to socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life. We will forge a society that will be color blind and merit-based…as of today it will henceforth be the official policy of the US government that there are only two genders, male and female.” This order also includes terminating all mandates, policies, and programs that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. Lastly, President Trump also mentioned reinstating any service members that were expelled from the military due to objecting to the COVID-19 vaccine mandate. He stated that they will be reinstated with full back pay.
“With these actions we will begin the complete restoration of America and the revolution of common sense,” said President Trump.
